Job Description:

This is a 4-month seasonal position working with Mississippi State University. Capture technicians will assist a lead technician with capturing and collaring adult white-tailed deer and wild pigs using dart rifles, suspended net projectors, and corral traps. Position duties include but are not limited to: 1) monitoring trail cameras at capture sites, 2) capturing and collaring deer and wild pigs, and 3) interfacing with agency biologists and private landowners. Position start date is 1 October 2022

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or upper level status in wildlife biology, ecology, or related discipline. Applicants MUST have a valid driver's license. Preference will be given to candidates with ungulate capture and immobilization experience, field research background, and archery hunting experience.

 

Candidates must be able to take detailed field notes and follow strict capture protocols. Applicants must able to carry 50 lbs. of equipment two hundred yards over rough ground. Candidates should be prepared to work at night, on weekends, irregular hours, and live in close quarters as part of a team. An excellent work ethic is mandatory.

Salary:
$13-15/hour
Benefits:
