Deadline: Wed, 06/26/2024 - 12:00pm Employer: GA DNR Wildlife Resources Division Job Field: Wildlife Job Type: Full Time Location: Georgia Location Detail: Gainesville, GA Job Description: Under broad supervision, this position is a member of a team that manages the western work unit of the region, including 5 WMAs and 12 counties. Writes and reviews long-term and short-term management plans for assigned WMAs. Utilizes GIS applications for planning and tracking habitat management and faunal species surveys and monitoring. Plans and conducts prescribed burns on WMAs. Provides wildlife technical assistance, including conflict abatement to private landowners, local governments, and other state agencies in assigned counties. Serves on a rotational after-hours/weekend/state holiday on-call schedule. Participates in DNR response to natural disasters including, but not limited to, hurricanes, tornados, and ice storms, and other emergencies declared by the Governor, as needed. Supervises 1 full-time wildlife technician and seasonal/part-time technicians as determined by region supervisor. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications for WL Biologist 1: Bachelor's degree in biology or related field from an accredited college or university. Minimum Qualifications for WL Biologist 2: Bachelor's degree in biology or related field from an accredited college or university and one year of related work experience or one year experience as the lower WL Biologist 1 or position equivalent. Preferred Qualifications: Work Experience with GIS applications Work experience with game species, work experience in leading or participating in prescribed burns Living within or in a county immediately adjacent to assigned work counties/WMAs or willingness to relocate GA DNR Wildlife Resources Division work experience.
