Job Description:

Under limited supervision, provide technical assistance to the public, local governments, homeowners’ associations, and similar stakeholders regarding wildlife management and resolving human-wildlife conflict in urban and suburban Metro-Atlanta. Conduct and attend education and outreach events on managing conflict species, specifically deer and coyotes. Participate in a variety wildlife research projects in and around Metro-Atlanta. Assist in creation of urban deer management program for local governments and HOAs interested. Provide remote and onsite technical assistance to resolve human-wildlife conflict in urban and suburban Metro-Atlanta. Onsite response to mitigate conflicts with big game (turkey, deer and bear) and protected species. Capture, relocate or euthanize conflict or injured wildlife in accordance with DNR policy. Participate in 24/7 rotating on call as emergency point of contact for Metro-Atlanta wildlife emergencies that exceed the scope of commercial nuisance wildlife control officers. Supervise up to four Wildlife Technicians. Assist in the expansion of the Urban Wildlife Program into other urban areas in the state. Supervise Wildlife Technicians.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Biology or a related field from an accredited college or university

OR

Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field from an accredited college or university

AND

One year of work experience.

OR

One year of experience required at the lower level Wildlife Biologist 1, (NRP060) or position equivalent.

 

Preference may be given to:

1. Experience working for Wildlife Resources Division

2. Experience planning and leading programs focused on human-wildlife conflict

3. Experience with capture and handling of conflict wildlife species (deer, coyote, bears)

4. Experience with ArcGIS

5. Master’s Degree in wildlife management

6. Supervisory Experience

Salary:
$48,063.23/year plus benefits
