Job Description:

This position is part of the Private Lands Program, Bobwhite Quail Initiative and will work in several counties in Southwest Georgia. Under general supervision, duties include but are not limited to working intensively with landowners, farmers, natural resource agency personnel and others to promote the implementation of wildlife habitat management practices on private farm and forest lands to benefit bobwhites and other grassland dependent species. Primary duties include the development of detailed habitat management plans and financial incentive proposals to integrate bobwhite management with other natural resource objectives and organizing and directing bird monitoring efforts on focal areas.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Wildlife Biologist 2:

Master's degree in Biology or a related field from an accredited college or university OR

Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience OR One year of experience required at the lower level Wildlife Biologist 1, (NRP060) or position equivalent.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to:

1. Applicants with a Masters degree in Wildlife Mangement, Wildlife Biology or Wildlife Science from an accredited college or university.

2. Applicants with detailed knowledge relative to the ecology and management of early successional habitats for northern bobwhite and other wildlife in the Southeast, agriculture and forestry practices, Farm Bill and other cost share and incentive programs.

3. Applicants with prior experience working with the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

4. Applicants with experience identifying birds by call.

5. Wildlife Resources Division employees.

$48,063.23/year plus benefits
