About Us:

T2EARTH is a breakthrough, wood science and eco treatment technology focused, sustainable forestry products building materials company. After 4 plus years of ground-breaking R&D and proprietary factory build out, T2EARTH has recently emerged from stealth mode into full scale plant production and commercial operations. These important two milestones are just the beginning of our significant production scale up and customer attainment journey to change for the better the way we all modify and use wood for residential and commercial construction and infrastructure.

Wood is #2 of the world’s big three building materials, (concrete and steel the other two), with wood being the only renewable and carbon sequestering one. At T2EARTH, we are building the next generation of superior performing, eco-friendly, wood products. As a key member of our R&D and engineering team, you would share your highly valued technical skills with us as we develop and launch one of the most important paradigms changing wood products in the past century that is targeting construction and infrastructure applications. Our first launched product, OnWood™ 1.0 is a revolutionary product that qualifies as an Interior Type A (HT) fire retardant wood in accordance with AWPA Standard U1. It is targeted at commercial and resident construction, including interior light-frame use cases such as roof systems, trusses, studs, flooring, joists, blocking, furring and more. OnWood™ is made with a completely green formulation that is eco-friendly and contains no hazardous chemicals, heavy metals, or environmental toxins. OnWood™ is manufactured today primarily using sustainably harvested wood from Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®), Sustainable Forestry Initiative ® (SFI ®) certified forests or other comparably eco-certified sources.

You will hit the ground running (sprinting) as you join our highly personable, accomplished and entrepreneurial, PhD Engineering and PhD Chemistry R&D Chiefs’ led dynamic R&D team based out of our own growing T2E LAB and Factory #1 in Columbia, Country, Georgia. Our team focuses on driving some of the most ground-breaking wood science R&D in the world with a hands-on combination of science-based and innovation driven product and process development.

 

We expect your business and operations experience will go beyond our R&D lab as an active member of our company assisting to steer mission critical projects and responsible for multiple new wood science and chemistry based capabilities platforms development, product innovation and scaling our first to market OnWood™ product and production facilities and will include working closely with members of the T2EARTH team in operations, marketing, and sales as we accelerate market acceptance and revenue growth. Expertise and Experience

Proficiency in a variety of relevant areas, specifically, but not limited to the chemistry and biological science of wood, knowledge of wood physical properties, wood mechanics, statistical process control is a plus.

Interest in materials science and sustainable technologies, green chemistry, polymer science, environmental sciences, materials science, renewable polymers applications are all valued areas of knowledge and interest.

Experience with performance profiles of wood, preservation, mechanical strength, engineered woods and mass timber and wood’s applications is helpful.

Responsibilities

An ability to work under minimal, broad supervision and manage new situations and special assignments which call for initiative, planning, judgment, and interpretation.

· Conducts research to determine composition, properties, behavior, utilization, development, treatments, and processing methods of wood and wood products with interaction with the team, clients, outside resources, and universities.

· Analyzes physical, chemical, and biological properties of wood.

· Lead projects in wood treating and developing attributes of lumber to meet new and novel applications.

· Develops and improves methods of preservation and treating wood with substances to increase performance properties including resistance to mold, fire, fungi, insects, and marine borers as well as the mechanical properties of the wood.

· Responsibilities to support the design and productivity of the production operations including QC methods and implementation, data management and overall approval of production processes.

· Conducts tests to determine ability of wood modification including stains, paints, and adhesives to withstand water, oil penetration, temperature extremes, and stability, strength, hardness, and crystallinity of wood under variety of conditions.

· Evaluates and improves effectiveness of key inputs and industrial equipment and production processes.

· Determines best type of wood for specific application and investigates methods of turning waste wood materials into useful products.

· Managing testing strategies and projects including certifications and labels from leading globally recognized institutions.

· Position requires residency in greater metropolitan Augusta, Georgia

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Wood Science, Forestry, Materials Science and Engineering or related degree plus 3-5 years of relevant laboratory / field experience required; or, PhD in same fields.

· Experience working with the biological and chemical structure of wood and/or treating of wood for use as a building material.

· Materials chemistry knowledge and practical R&D and science-based new product development process experience are helpful backgrounds.

· Wood products industry knowledge including forestry, sawmill, and/or wood treating, and preservative experience welcomed but not mandatory.

· Ability to collect data and statistically coordinate conclusions leading to the development of new products.

· Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills

· Project management experience running product development projects is helpful.

· Ability to influence and lead internal teams or coordination with external partners and vendors.

· Experience with publishing research papers or patents is a plus.

· Familiarity with building materials, regulations and building codes also a plus.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and current data software and emerging applications

Salary:
$90,000/yr - $125,000/yr
