Job Description:

The West Virginia Land Trust is seeking a Conservation Fellow. The 24-month fellowship will provide a professional development opportunity for talented post-graduates or those with work experience seeking a career in the field of land conservation. Mentored by WVLT staff, the Fellow will learn to identify conservation values and to protect ecological treasures throughout WV, focusing on land and easement acquisitions that make a tangible contribution to the WVLT’s mission and goals. Training will emphasize an applied Acquisition component of land conservation, including project selection, landowner negotiation, funding, and due diligence. The Fellow will also gain experience with additional aspects of private non-profit land conservation and will eventually manage projects independently. Self-motivation is essential, and statewide travel may be frequent (federal mileage reimbursements provided). The salary range is $45,000 - $55,000, commensurate with experience. The Fellow will be based in Morgantown, WV.
