Sheng-I Yang's research focuses on modeling forest growth, diversity, structure and function for planted and natural forests in order to advance forest science and inform sustainable forest management decisions. He develops and improves quantitative methods at the individual tree, stand, and system levels. Alec's current research focuses on the intersection of conservation planning and ecological modeling on a landscape scale. He integrates multiple valuation techniques to understand and anticipate changes in natural infrastructure, climate, and habitat systems, as well as providing tools for applied and socially-conscious spatial prioritization frameworks.
I was born and raised on the Ft. Peck Sioux and Assiniboine Reservation of rural northeastern Montana. I received my A.S. from Dawson Community College in Glendive Montana, and then my B.S. and M.S. in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana in 2009 and 2012, respectively.
