Emeritus Director, Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health (Bugwood) Dr. David J. Moorhead is Emeritus Director of the Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health and a retired professor of silviculture at the University of Georgia's Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. In his time at UGA, he provided statewide and regional service/outreach programs for county extension agents, private landowners, foresters and natural resource managers on silviculture, forest vegetation management, invasive species and forest health issues, forest regeneration, prescribed fire and forest management. Awards, Honors and Recognitions: Moorhead received the 2007 Outstanding Service Award in Forest Health Protection from the Georgia Forestry Commission, the 2009 Award of Excellence in Public Education in Technology Transfer from the Southeastern Society of American Foresters, the 2016 Walter Barnard Hill Award for Distinguished Achievement in Public Service and Outreach from the University of Georgia, the 2017 National Technology Transfer Award from the Society of American Foresters, and the 2018 Forest Landowner Association's Extension Forester of the Year Award. He has been active in the Southeastern Exotic Pest Plant Council and the North American Invasive Species Network, and served on the Board of Directors for the North American Invasive Species Management Association.
