About this Degree
Not all veterinarians work in an office. For students who have a passion for working with wild animals, the pre-vet wildlife sciences area of emphasis is a good fit.
This option fulfills all course requirements for entrance into UGA's College of Veterinary Medicine. This is a good option whether a student has a desire to work with animals in a conservation setting, or focus on zoonotic diseases.
This program is part of Warnell's Fisheries and Wildlife degree.
What you will learn
Classes in this area of emphasis include animal behavior, wildlife physiology and nutrition, and wildlife diseases. These are in addition to many of the organismal biology courses (herpetology, mammalogy, ornithology, etc.) taken by all wildlife students.

Students pursuing the pre-vet wildlife sciences area of emphasis in the fisheries and wildlife major may be able to complete one or more of the following programs alongside their major.

Research
Students can find opportunities to work with faculty research projects that focus on zoonotic diseases and parasites. Many students plug in to projects through the Southeast Wildlife Disease Center.
